The Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center is thrilled to announce the debut of a brand new exhibit titled “Explore an Ice Core”. The center worked with designers and builders from Printscape, Carnegie Science Center, and the National Science Foundation to bring this fully interactive exhibit to life. Visitors can study gas bubbles, plant parts, ash and other items trapped deep in the ice pucks to see how the Earth’s climate has changed over time. In the polar region ice stacks up over centuries, meaning the deeper the ice, the older it is. Guests will also be able to maneuver a drill to pull a replica ice core from a pipe and study it as well.
The Weather Discovery Center is currently open Wednesday-Sunday 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. For more information on planning your visit or setting up a group tour you can email info@weatherdiscovery.org.
