Contest Open to Kindergartners in the Punxsutawney School District
The Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center is pleased to announce that entries into the 17th Annual Little Mr. and Miss Groundhog Contest are now being accepted. The contest is open to all kindergarten students in the Punxsutawney area. The winners of the contest will be crowned on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the Lobby of the Weather Discovery Center. Each winner will receive a $50 Wal-Mart card and a gift bag.
To enter, please send a picture of your kindergartner (no larger than 5”x 7”) with the child’s full name, age, name of school they attend, parents’ names and phone number on the back of the photograph. Drop it off or mail it to Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center, 201 North Findley St., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
Entries must be received no later than January 10 at 4 p.m. to be considered. Photos will not be returned.
The winners are chosen by popular vote, with each vote costing $1. Contestant pictures are on display for voting at the Weather Discovery Center from Jan. 11-23 on Monday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday. On Tuesdays, voting will be at Shop N Save in the Groundhog Plaza from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Credit card votes can also be called in to 938-1000. MC, Visa & Discover accepted. (Minimum amount to vote using a credit card is $5.00 due to credit card service fees.)
The boy and girl with the most votes will be notified by phone on January 23. The winners will appear in the Punxsutawney Spirit and are invited to the Firemen’s Parade in July and the Home for the Holidays Parade in November.
The contest supports the educational mission of the Weather Discovery Center.
