This Saturday, Girl Scouts from all over Western Pennsylvania arrive in town for Punxsutawney Phil’s Weather Extravaganza. Sixty Scouts along with 45 of their family members will take part in the four-hour long event that begins at 10 a.m.
The first stop of the day is the Weather Discovery Center. The Scouts will tour the exhibits, see a feature in the theater and make a special SWAPS
(Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere) to commemorate their visit. While at the Weather Discovery Center, the attendees will also be taken on a walking tour of several of the Phantastic Phils public art sculptures.
At noon, the girls and their family members will head to Gobblers Knob for lunch and a program by the Groundhog Club Inner Circle featuring Punxsutawney Phil. Following lunch, there’s a walk along the Gobblers Knob trail and a visit to the stage to see where Groundhog Day happens.
Punxsutawney Phil’s Weather Extravaganza is held annually in April in cooperation with the Girl Scouts of Western Pennsylvania. It’s a fun day for Girl Scouts with a touch of weather and folklore education thrown in!
