As an Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) organization, the Weather Discovery Center is eligible to receive contributions from qualified businesses that can use the donations as a tax credit. As a business participant in the EITC program, First Commonwealth Bank supports several community nonprofits in this way. Punxsutawney First Commonwealth VP/Community Office Manager Dawn Martin recently presented EITC funds to the director of the Weather Discovery Center, Marlene Lellock.

“We are so grateful that we have First Commonwealth Bank as a community partner,” said Weather Discovery Center Board Chairman, Jim Cassidy. “Through Dawn Martin, who is a member of our board of directors, and bank executives, we have benefited tremendously from First Commonwealth’s support of our mission of education. Their contributions allow us to continue to develop our educational content and programming.”

Businesses who wish to learn more about how they may get involved with the EITC program can visit the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s EITC web site.
