Are you coming to experience the once-in-a-lifetime thrill of seeing the world-famous Punxsutawney Phil make his annual prognostication on the length of winter? If so, plan a stop at the Weather Discovery Center too! All three days of the celebration you can enjoy our fun and interactive exhibits, challenge yourself with our scavenger hunt and create a “make-n-take” in our classroom!
Special Hours: Friday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Groundhog Day 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., Sunday 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Saturday, January 26, 10 a.m. : 2019 Little Mr. & Miss Groundhog
Witness the crowning of Groundhog Royalty (chosen by popular vote). No charge to see the ceremony in our lobby.
Friday, February 1, 11:30 a.m. Meteorologist Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Which influential meteorologist or scientist will be immortalized in our Hall of Fame for 2019?
The event begins with groundhog cookies and punch and a chance to meet Punxsutawney Phil followed by the induction ceremony at noon. $7 admission, children two and under free.
Sunday, February 3, 10 a.m. Special Appearance by Punxsutawney Phil!
No charge to see Phil in our lobby.
To kick off the Week of Giving in Punxsutawney (March 18-22), we are hosting Free Admission Saturday!
From 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. that day, there is no admission charge to enter the Weather Discovery Center and enjoy all we have to offer. Please come visit if you’ve never been here before or if it’s been quite some time since you’ve been in. Then consider a contribution to help us continue our mission to educate about the science and folklore of weather!
Learn the basics of severe weather spotting and how to report it to the National Weather Service. This free class is presented by a meteorologist from the National Weather Service office in Pittsburgh. Pre-registration is required to 814-938-1000 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Walk-ins will be accepted that night if there is room.
It’s a day full of learning and fun for Girl Scouts of all ages! During Punxsutawney Phil’s Weather Extravaganza, Scouts will visit the Weather Discovery Center and make a SWAP, go on a walking tour of some of the Phantastic Phils, have lunch and a program with Punxsutawney Phil at Gobblers Knob, and take a walk along the Gobblers Knob trail to learn about the tradition of Groundhog Day. The cost per Scout is $23 and includes lunch, a mid-morning snack, the SWAP, a fun patch, and a souvenir. Parents and siblings are welcome to attend as well at $15 per person (does not include the fun patch and souvenir.) Registration is by April 12 at https://www.gswpa.org
