The Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center is sponsoring its annual “Little Mr. & Miss Groundhog” contest. All kindergarten children attending Punxsutawney Area schools, SSCD and the Punxsutawney Christian School are eligible to enter. Submit a photo (no larger than 5″ x 7″) to the Weather Discovery Center with child’s name, age, address & phone number on the back by no later than Friday, Jan. 11.
The winners are chosen by popular vote with each vote costing $1.00. Voting will run from Jan. 12 through Jan. 24. Votes can be made at the Weather Discovery Center on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. On Tuesdays, the voting will be at Shop ‘N Save in the Groundhog Plaza from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Each vote costs $1.00. You may also call 814-938-1000 to use your credit card to vote: Mastercard, Visa and Discovery are accepted.
The winners will be notified on the evening of Jan. 24. The crowning of Little Mr. & Miss Groundhog 2019 will take place Saturday, Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. in the lobby of the Weather Discovery Center. The winners will each receive a $50 Wal-Mart gift card and gift bag. Little Mr. & Miss Groundhog are also invited to be in the Fireman’s Old Home Week parade and the Home for the Holidays parade.
Punxsutawney Weather Center, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and gifts are tax deductible as provided by law. Proceeds from the fundraiser support educational programming.
